50 Metre Training - Basildon

Over the summer we took a group of swimmers to Basildon for a 50m pool training session. This is an excellent opportunity for swimmers to experience an Olympic sized pool.  Session lengths are quite intense but are a great experience and help to develop stamina.

We are hoping to be able to offer further training after the County Champs……April onwards. We generally book 2 lanes which can take up to 20 swimmers which operate on a first come first served basis…
To cover the club costs, we charge £4 per hour per session.

As soon as future sessions are confirmed we will post the info onto the latest news section of the web.

The link and the address of the Basildon Sporting Village is below if you want to check out the facilities and find the location...

ASA Competitive Swimming Performance Badges Available

Just a reminder that all swimmers competing in galas, open meets and our club championships can aim for their Competitive Swimming Performance badges.

In some cases times achieved at time trials may also count, generally these events will be with officials attending (i.e. judges, referees and time keepers). Please check when you take part.

In addition to the Sprint Awards, for those who compete in longer distance swims, badges for Middle Distance and Long Distance are also available.

Details of the times you will need to achieve these awards are posted on our notice board. Badges are available in the pool foyer on the first and third Friday of each month from 7-8.30pm.

Badges are currently priced at £2.00 and £1.00. Most swimmers display the badges on their t-bag tops, which are available from the Swim Shop.

It should be noted that all times are consistent with the ASA Graded Swimming Times. These awards have been developed in conjunction with the British Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association.

County Entries for 2013 - January 2013

One of the main swimming events in the annual calendar is the county champs. From the age of 9 swimmers compete against other swimmers within the county.  The county champs are between Jan and March each year. To enter into the champs the swimmers pb for each stroke and distance must be within a certain qualifying time.  The times for these events must be achieved at a licensed meet (except 9 year olds)

For a small Club we always send a strong team of swimmers to the county champs…… a true reflection on the high level of coaching and the swimmers talent/motivation we are so lucky to have! This year we had 51 swimmers qualify to compete at Counties…………well done to each and everyone!!

Children In Need - November 2012

Junior A Squad had fun raising money for Children in Need! For the last 30 minutes of their training session they put their pyjamas on and competed in relays of all descriptions.

They started with a straight forward freestyle stroke but things got complicated from that point on. In some races they could only use their arms to get them through the water, on others they could only use their legs. Props of floats and toys were added for the final few races!

The swimmers had a great time and said it was worth paying the £1 entrance fee. More money was raised by selling handmade cakes in the foyer.

Junior A rasied an impressive £70, not bad for 30 minutes fun!!

Thanks to Claire for suggesting the idea and to the coaches for making it so much fun!

Presentation Evening - October 2012

A fantastic evening was had by all that attended the annual club presentation eve.  All swimmers received a medal for competing in the Club Championships.  Awards for age group winners at sprint & middle distance were received on the night along with awards for league performance and for swimmer development.

One of the exciting points to the evening is always the announcement of the club captains.

The Junior Captains for the 2013 are Jodie Root/Abbi Stoney and Sam Jones. Senior Captains for 2013 are Ellie Johnson and Kai Adams.  Congratulations to you all!!

Thank you/leaving gifts were also given to 3 key members Carrie Rulton, Annette Cox and Michael Park.
