Halstead Swimming Club

Halstead Swimming Club Logo

Halstead Swimming Club was started early in 1965 at the old swimming pool in Parsonage Street. The founder members were Maisie Randall and Johnny Newport. Our President, Gordon Finch, became involved in 1973 and has been with the club ever since.  The swimming pool was built as a dye tank for the Courtaulds factory in 1914 and later given to the people of Halstead as a Public Bath.  We fought for many years to get a new pool and finally moved to our present home in the Halstead Leisure Centre in 2004.

Many of our swimmers, after progressing through the various squads continue to support the club by becoming coaches and officials.

HSC is affiliated to Swim England Essex and Swim England East Region. The club holds a constitution; this is a set of rules based on a model constitution from Swim England. The HSC Constitution was updated at the AGM, held on 26 June 2020. A copy of which is available for members to view under documents on Club Organiser.

Development Squad

The Development Squad is a perfect place to start for young swimmers about to graduate from their swimming lessons, with a basic knowledge of the four strokes, and a passion to keep learning.

Experienced Coaches will teach you drills and sets to perfect your strokes, build your stamina and get you diving off the blocks.

Swimmers usually start to compete at 9yrs old (as specified by Swim England Level 3 License conditions), but younger swimmers will gain valuable experience during training with their squad friends, challenging themselves with targets set by their coaches and blasting off at Club Champs on the run up to their debut.

Butterfly swimmers background for the Senior B Squad

Senior B

Senior B is a relatively recent introduction to Halstead Swimming Club, that largely comprises of older swimmers: Seniors who have either started the next phase of their lives - starting their exams, or starting their first jobs - but who still wish to compete, but need a lighter training schedule, and Masters swimmers enjoying their time in the water so much they want to train more and be pushed further.

This is known to be one of HSC's most fun squads.
